Susan grew up in Camberwell, Kew, and Chadstone when she was young, then lived in East St Kilda and a Ministry of housing home in Essendon West prior to coming to McLean.

Sue studied a fine arts degree. Sue is a co-founder of Mixed Nuts Media which aims to use video production to expand opportunities and improve skills for people with mental health issues.

"Telling our stories, in our own voice, on our own behalf, about our issues", says Sue.

 â€‹

"We aim to increase self-esteem, reduce social isolation and expand opportunities for people with mental health issues."

Sue has also advocated for gender-specific psychiatric wards to operate throughout Victoria due to the increased risk of physical and sexual abuse occurring in these facilities.

"I am continuing to pursue my art and I am currently enrolled in Artlife at Footscray Community Art Centre. Artlife is a weekly program for artists with disabilities. This term, I have been focusing on collage work. I love my Thursdays and always come home blissed out."
